Crafted by hand in the solitude of the California High Desert, each of Jonathan Cross's stoneware cups is either wood-fired or soda-fired, introducing chance, and atmospheric marks. Their tactile surfaces, bearing natural inclusions from local, hand-dug clay, echo the surrounding geological formations. While perfect for a sip of mezcal or fresh-squeezed juice, these cups are complete as sculptural objects even without their utility.
